A Waterton Stage & Screen "Music Matinee at the Opera House" presentation.
June 15 - 4:00pm
Waterton Lakes Opera House
presented in conjuction with the Waterton Wildflower Festival June 13-18, 2019
After a sold-out performance last year of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, the Principal Strings of the Rocky Mountain Symphony return to perform the most famous piano quintet of all time, "Die Forelle" by Schubert - joined by Conductor Carlos Foggin on the piano.
Piano: Carlos Foggin
Violin: Eileen Kosasih
Viola: Duarte da Silva
Cello: Maria Vander Hoek
Bass: Ross Allan Lemon
The piece is known as the Trout because the fourth movement is a set of variations on Schubert's earlier song die Forelle "The Trout". A piano quintet is typically a Pianist joined by a String Quartet (2 violins, viola, and cello). In this case, Schubert dispensed with the second violin and added a Double Bass.
A typical performance lasts 40 minutes. The balance of the program will feature smaller works, and will be announced from the stage.
